Gilbert Arenas called into WJFK’s ‘Big O and Dukes’ show yesterday to shoot the pirate ship about an assortment of topics, including video games, the Wizards’ off-season moves, and his fat new contract. (You can listen to the podcast here. Whatever the heck a that is.)
But the highlight, as transcribed by RealClearSports, comes near the end of the interview when Agent Zero weighs in on the possibility of doing a reality show.
"Ya know, it’s funny. I got a — you ever seen the show, ‘Rob and Big?’ The producers want to do a reality show on me — the first NBA player to do a reality show. But then I thought about it — I was like, my life is really not that exciting. Ya know, so, I’m thinking about it, because, ya know, I have players like Nick [Young], who’s goofy, so we can do paintball shooting and see who can get hurt on the grotto jumping into the pool …"
As you can imagine, most people— er, bloggers are ecstatic about the news. (Mutoni: "It’ll be just like his blog, except with moving pictures! Make it happen, reality television producers.") But not everyone is so quick to set the TiVo. JC at the Stet Sports Blog, for example:
"Can you imagine Gilbert Arenas having cameras and microphones on him at all times? Sounds like fun when he and Nick Young are waxing stupid on and off the court, but what about in the midst of a tiring three-game losing streak out west? What happens when he takes issue with Eddie Jordan’s decisions, or the sub-par play of a teammate? Will the destruction be televised? You bet."
Interesting point. But I’m more concerned about whether or not Oleksiy Pecherov will be allowed to star in two hit television series at once. Family Guy would suck without him.
